Panel: 2018 Farm Bill Potential Impacts on Vermont Hemp

Eli Harrington 7 Dec 2018

Sunday, December 9, Heady Vermont has organized a panel titled, “How Could the New Farm Bill Impact Vermont Hemp Farmers?” that includes confirmed participants from the Office of U.S. Senator Bernie Sandersand the Vermont Agency of Agriculture with other invitees tba.

This event is free and open to the public and starts at 3pm in the Black Box Theater at Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center at 60 Lake Street in Burlington, Vermont

Panel organizer Eli Harrington said that the panel was assembled quickly this week in response to several questions that Heady Vermont has received related to the impending passage of the 2018 Farm Bill and the hemp provisions included.

“Right now in Vermont there are over 400 registered industrial hemp cultivators, hundreds of people involved in small hemp and CBD businesses, and at least hundreds of thousands of dollars being generated with much activity. The hemp provisions included in this bill will absolutely have an impact on this growing agricultural and artisan community, so we’re very grateful that we have a Congressional delegation and State officials who can respond to these questions and concerns.”

Confirmed participants include: Erica Campbell, Outreach: Agriculture, Nutrition, Rural Development, Transportation in Office of Senator Bernie Sanders, and Cary Giguere, Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets Additional participants have been invited and will be announced when confirmed.

Preceding the panel on Sunday, Heady Vermont has organized a Vermont Hemp Farm Brunch at the The Skinny Pancake Burlington from 10am-2pm and two screenings of Hemp Road Trip at 2pm and 5pm at the same Black Box Theater where the panel takes place.

Panel discussion is free and open to the public, the Hemp Road Trip screening tickets are $10 each and available online here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/burlington-hemp-road-trip-documentary-screening-vermont-tickets-52880160985
