Terpenes are a class of endogenous chemicals expressed by Cannabis spp. at levels up to 1% – 2% by weight. This chemical class is typically analyzed using headspace GC methodologies. However, this approach has been shown require long incubation times in the headspace auto-sampler, and to discriminate against higher molecular weight (higher boiling) terpenes partitioning into the headspace – especially in the presence of high concentrations of cannabinoids. This presentation will demonstrate the advantages of liquid injection GC-MS over headspace methods for the analysis of terpenes in various cannabis matrices.Presenter Information: Dr. Anthony Macherone, Senior Scientist & Strategic Program Manager, Agilent Technologies, Inc.
