Strain Review: Sunshine #4 by Family Tree Cannabis Co.

Sunshine #4 is a bright, balanced strain with a greasy citrus punch and a multi-layered high that starts out cerebral and euphoric, and transitions halfway through into intense relaxation. A 50/50 hybrid, this award-winning strain took the prize for Best Hybrid Flower at the 2015 High Times Medical Cup in Michigan and was grown in Vermont by Family Tree Cannabis Co.
Strain Review: Sunshine #4
The buds on Sunshine #4 tend to be on the smaller side with tapered, spade-shaped structures. It’s got the denser core of an indica variety but with the spiraled wispy leaves and wayward pistils of a sativa. Whoever trimmed the nugget respected the strain and left these intact!

Opening the jar revealed a bright citrusy diesel aroma brought out by a solid cure – a ray of sunshine in a jar. Loaded with trichomes, this bud made for a sticky grind and easy rolling. The flavors built nicely on the strain’s aromas, bringing a smooth and palatable citrus-packed smoke with herbal coffee undertones.

The high started out in my face, with a tingle in the cheekbones and a sense of euphoria that built upwards. I found myself fairly clearheaded, able to socialize, and prone to fits of laughter. An hour or so later, though, as I settled into the evening, the physical effects became noticeably stronger and a lovely body high spread over me like a warm, soothing blanket. I melted into the couch, happily sedated and somewhat tripped out.

Medical cannabis patients use this strain for stress, depression, anxiety and physical pain. It’s a good option for patients who are prone to panic or paranoia or who have a low THC tolerance, as it doesn’t produce the anxious, recursive thinking patterns associated with some high-THC strains. Beginners should venture into Sunshine #4 with caution as it packs a punch.
Sunshine #4, an ideal hybrid for chilling out, provides soothing, long-lasting relaxation. This strain would likely be better for afternoon and evening use, due to its long duration and relaxing finish.
