Professionally Designed and Developed Websites Simply Outperform DIY Ones

It doesn’t take much to convince businesses that they need to have an effective website. Even brick-and-mortar stores that have succeeded for decades are realizing that their online presence feeds traffic to their physical location. A well-made site gives a company a polished and professional look and allows products to be sold even while the owner is sleeping or on vacation. 24/7.

These days, folks are less willing to get in their car and go shopping. They want to know which business has exactly what they need with the best selection. They may browse two or three sites to see which one feels right. Some form an impression of a business upon seeing its landing page.

“We take pride in contributing to the local economy by helping small to larger size businesses receive more traffic and leads through their websites.”

They may leave a site if the navigation features are awkward, irritating, or time-consuming. Time is money to prospective clients, and if web pages take longer than a few seconds to load, they may hit the back button and check out another business instead. Websites work, but having a poorly constructed one can be disastrous.

“We take pride in contributing to the local economy by helping small to larger size businesses receive more traffic and leads through their websites,” said Peter Jewett, CEO of Bytes.

Jewett founded Bytes with the dream of coding and building better websites to help businesses succeed online. Jewett, originally from Maine, graduated from Champlain College with a degree in eBusiness Management.

Most business owners are not computer-coding experts. There are loads of other details on which they’d rather be wasting brain energy.

He worked in the SEO department of Dealer.com before stepping out on his own. He runs the day-to-day operations and sales department of the company while cofounder Jason “Jay” Di Vece, who joined Jewett in 2012, oversees existing accounts, technical support, and their custom development teams.

Bytes specializes in building and maintaining sharp, professional websites, helping businesses grow their community of consumers through social media, Google and Facebook ads, and strong SEO. They are also available for emergency tech support and hack cleanups.

“Websites are a lot like food. If it doesn’t look appealing, you’re not going to engage with it.”

There can be pop up ads to other businesses on there, hidden charges, and no one around to assist when the site goes down.  Most are slow because there are hundreds of sites on the server, and there can be security issues, limited bandwidth caps, and low storage space for data like videos and photos. And if a site is not compatible with smartphones, a business could lose out.

“Websites are a lot like food,” added Jay Di Vece. “If it doesn’t look appealing, you’re not going to engage with it. The form is just as important as the function, and we take both seriously. It’s what makes our products successful.”

Bytes was thrilled to revamp Bolton Valley Resort’s website. Being a content-heavy site, the Design & Development team focused primarily on modernization and organization, integrating a mega-menu for simple navigation.

Bytes focuses on creating long-term relationships with merchants, nonprofit organizations, and service providers over years of working together as their businesses evolve and grow.

They incorporated high-quality images to pair with their content, and made the site mobile-friendly. They also improved the overall look and function of features like weather conditions, lift ticket purchases, and room booking.

For Chippers Tree Service in Woodstock, VT, the Bytes team created a beautiful and very design-forward website depicting the stunning before-and-after results that Chippers delivers. In addition, they integrated their blog, added several educational pages, and incorporated a Careers Microsite, helping Chippers find qualified new hires.

They offer customized packages that cater to each company’s budget and style, offering more or less hands-on supervision of the site.

“All websites require on-going maintenance to keep them functioning properly. However, complex websites can require significantly more maintenance and technical support. It’s nice knowing you can reach an on-call tech here in minutes to correct any issue in either case.”

They can seamlessly blend content, images, videos, and calls-to-action into one strong brand-centric site, and set up e-commerce functions to create the capital needed to get a business started or jumpstart an existing one.

“When you consider the amount of money that a downed site can cost a business, professional monitoring can be cost-effective,” said Abby Rajotte, Byte’s Sales & Marketing Coordinator. “All websites require on-going maintenance to keep them functioning properly. However, complex websites can require significantly more maintenance and technical support. It’s nice knowing you can reach an on-call tech here in minutes to correct any issue in either case.”
