Cannabis Action In Londonderry

The Heady Vermont team got a message yesterday from Londonderry cannabis activist Emmett Dunbar, who’s been working to make his town friendly to cannabis businesses, and who’s managed to get an article added to the conversation at town meeting.
He invited us to share his message with the cannabis action community. Which, of course, we are very happy to do.
Congratulations to Emmett and his compatriots on some great grassroots action!
Message From Emmet Dunbar:
I wanted to update you on the good news about our awareness and development work on the legal Cannabis future marketplace in our community in Londonderry, Windham County, Vermont.
We followed the letter of the law about having an Article pass before our Select Board for acceptance to be added to Town Meeting in the Town Warning document. We submitted and presented more than the minimum number of signatures needed from Londonderry residents and the Article was discussed.
The SB agreed that it is an important issue and that the subject should be known and therefore it will be printed in the Warning that will be distributed to every household in Londonderry.
We the undersigned legal voters of the Town of __LONDONDERRY___, hereby petition the Selectboard of the Town of ___LONDONDERRY__ , Vermont  to place the following Article on the warning for the Annual Town Meeting to be held on the __3RD__ day of March , 20_20_. This petition is filed pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 2691. We certify that we are presently voters of that town. The Article to be placed on the warning to read:
Article:Â Â WE, THE RESIDENTS OF LONDONDERRY, VERMONT, WANT THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP LEGAL CANNABIS RELATED BUSINESSES, AND TO FORM A HEALTHY, SAFE, LOCALLY BASED MARKETPLACE WITHIN LONDONDERRY FOR ALL CANNABIS GOODS AND SERVICES.Â
With this, we now have a great platform to educate our community and answer questions about legal Cannabis in Vermont and the further evolution of S.54 as it bounces around the chambers of the House…
We feel very good about this act of democracy for people’s and budget’s sake.
Please share this information and documents in anyway appropriate.
We encourage everyone to make steps in the right direction for a, truly, prohibition free Vermont!
