Growers and makers cannabis competition expands competition categories

Heady Vermont is excited to announce The Headies 2020, our second annual cannabis cup.

The inaugural competition attracted over 80 competitors in categories including THC and CBD flower, concentrates, topicals and edibles.

Given that 2019 was the first full legal season for home grow, we anticipate increased participation as well as a wider variety of entries. In support of maximizing participation, they’ve expanded the range of entry categories to include CBD edibles and topicals, hybrid flower, hemp, and a special Masters flower division, where participants will all be given the same seed stock – Grimace OG – from Masters category sponsors Archive Seed Bank.

“Last year’s participation levels kind of blew us away,” says CEO Monica Donovan, “and we can’t wait to see who turns out this year.” Donovan notes that, “It’s clear that Vermonters are deeply passionate about this plant. We’re also incredibly grateful,” she adds, “to our team of advisors and judges who are all master growers themselves, and who have helped shape the structure of The Headies to make it as fair, fun, and exciting as possible.”

“I was humbled to win the topicals division last year, especially given the caliber of the other entries” says Middlebury herbalist Susan Snowden. “I originally started making CBD salves for myself to help heal from major surgery, and the whole world just kind of started seeking it out. Winning The Headies,” adds Snowden, “just legitimizes my product even more.”

Interested participants can go to headies.headyvermont.com for more information and to sign up. Aspiring Masters competitors have until August 15 to register and receive their seeds. All other competitors can sign up now through November 15.
