Health Tip: Beat The Heat…With Your Tongue!

Kathryn Blume 10 Aug 2018

These hot and humid days can leave you feeling overheated and drained. But along with eating spicy food and putting an ice cube on your wrist, you can also cool down thanks to a nifty trick from the world of yoga.

Called sheetali pranayama, it’s a pretty simple act of curling your tongue, and then sipping air through it as if you were sipping through a straw. Long, slow sips are good. Fast sucks will give you Brain Freeze.

Go ahead and try it. You might look weird, but just remember the old maxim from the Yoga Sutras: “Sing like no one is listening. Love like you’ve never been hurt. Sheetali pranayama like no one’s watching!”
