Celebration will feature an exhibition of local Vermont growers and producers, live music, glassblowing, a seed and clone swap, food trucks, growing demonstrations and door prizes.

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. – Following the Vermont legislature’s historic bill legalizing recreational cannabis use for adults, and Vermont Governor Phil Scott signing the bill into law, Heady Vermont will host a celebration for members and the general public on July 1 – the day legalization goes into effect – at The Barns at Lang Farm in Essex.

The event will feature an exhibition of local Vermont vendors including growers, CBD producers and more, live music, a seed and clone swap, food trucks, cannabis growing demonstrations, and door prizes.

For the last two years, Heady Vermont has engaged in an ongoing effort to foster positive dialogue about all things cannabis, strengthen the relationship between the burgeoning hemp industry and the citizens of Vermont, and dismantle decades of fear and misinformation about this ancient, and extremely beneficial plant.

“The Vermont Legislature has taken an important step in legalizing cannabis for recreational use,” says Heady Vermont co-founder Eli Harrington. “They’ve demonstrated the truth that cannabis is not a useless, Schedule 1 narcotic to be feared and banned, but instead recognized that it’s a highly potent medicinal, and a source of fun and pleasure on a par with – and maybe even better than – local microbrews.”

The Post-Prohibition Celebration is a recognition of the decades of work legalization advocates have put into changing misguided, regressive laws, and an opportunity to begin a process of public education.

Taking place at The Barns at Lang Farm in Essex on Sunday, July 1 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Post-Prohibition Celebration is a recognition of the decades of work legalization advocates have put into changing misguided, regressive laws, and an opportunity to begin a process of public education about how individuals can grow cannabis, and create a variety of products for their personal use.

“We’re so excited to host this event,” says Debbie Lang of Lang Farm. “I’m a medical cannabis patient myself, and I’ve never understood why something so beneficial has been so vilified and misunderstood. I’m happy to help make cannabis a healthy and integral part of Vermont’s agricultural economy.”

Debbie’s husband and co-owner Jon Lang agrees. “I am extremely excited that prohibition is finally over and all vermonters with a green thumb can now grow a plant legally with as of yet untold benefits to society,” he says.

Presale tickets for the Post-Prohibition Celebration at Lang Farm are free for Heady Vermont members, and $25 for the general public. Admission includes door prizes and access to all exhibits, activities and demonstrations. Shuttles to and from downtown Burlington will be available for revelers who most definitely should not be driving their vehicles.
