Vermont CBD and Hemp Producers and Artisans Team Up With Vermont Ski Areas to Provide Demos and Free Presentation for Winter Sports Athletes

Discounted Ski Tickets, ‘Ski + Stay’ Lodging Packages, Mini-Farmers Market, and Free Presentation: “CBD 101: Hemp for Winter Sports Athletes & Weekend Warriors”

BURKE, Vt. — With interest in legal, non-psychoactive hemp and CBD products growing rapidly, and the explosive growth of legal hemp cultivation, processing, and products being made in Vermont, Heady Vermont presents CBD 101: Cannabidiol for Winter Sports Athletes and Weekend Warriors.

The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Burke Mountain Hotel and Conference Center, and will be part member ski day, part farmers market, and directly support hemp education and understanding, as well as spotlight the local, legal, and fast-growing Vermont hemp industry and the pioneering farmers and small businesses leading the way.

Event co-organizer Eli Harrington, who previously worked in the Vermont ski industry, is a co-founder of Heady Vermont and an avid snowboarder. He explained that the inspiration for the event is more about pain relief than pot.

“We know that cannabidiol (CBD, which is legal in Vermont) is very effective for treating inflammation (soreness), and pain relief without psychoactive or impairing side effects,” Harrington said. “Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a passholder, you deal with soreness when you’re skiing or riding and people would rather look for more relief from plants and natural products instead of popping pills.”

Following the inaugural Vermont Hemp Fest in September and two successful CBD and Hemp Farmers Markets in November and December, Heady Vermont hemp and CBD events have drawn a combined 2,000 attendees and featured more than 40 unique Vermont hemp and ancillary businesses. Heady Vermont co-founder Monica Donovan said that many local Vermont hemp producers are already making products that would appeal to skiers and snowboarders.

“Looking at the CBD and hemp products that are being made locally in Vermont and how many people are using them for pain relief and soreness, it seems like a great opportunity to reach a group of people — skiers and boarders — who would be interested in learning more about CBD and hemp from the people who understand it best and are producing it locally here in Vermont,” Donovan said.

In September 2017, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) removed Cannabidiol (CBD) from its list of banned substances, although the key psychoactive cannabinoid found in medical marijuana, THC, remains banned.

The event organizers confirmed that the event will be family-friendly and will feature discounted tickets and lodging deals for Heady Vermont readers and members via the Heady Vermont website. The public will be invited to meet a small number of Vermont CBD and hemp growers and businesses who will have display tables, samples, and products available for purchase and sampling from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In addition to the displays, there will be a brief presentation at lunchtime that is free and open to the public titled, “CBD 101: Cannabidiol for Winter Sports Athletes and Weekend Warriors.” This session will feature experts explaining the pain-relieving attributes (without the high) of CBD, winter sport athletes and enthusiasts presently using CBD, and Vermont-based CBD producers who will explain how their legal products are produced in Vermont.

At the Burke event on January 20, Heady Vermont members and readers will receive $40 discounted lift ticket coupon in upcoming editions of, The Stash, Heady Vermont weekly newsletter. The Burke Mountain Hotel and Conference Center will also provided discounted ‘Ski + Stay’ packages including two (2) lift tickets and a hotel room for the night starting at $199.

Sponsor details, vendors, discounted tickets and lodging packages will be announced on the Heady Vermont website and social media channels next week. Additional locations and dates for the Member Ski Series are in the works and will be announced before New Years.
