Cannabis on Campus
BURLINGTON, Vt. — Heady Vermont is proud to be partnering with the University of Vermont Department of Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) to host an interactive community educational event focused on the cannabis plant, ranging from industrial hemp to medical marijuana to the ongoing political and business implications that come with reforms in Vermont and in neighboring states.
The evening will include presentations by subject experts and interactive audience participation, encouraging a broad range of opinions and a healthy dialogue related to one of the most disruptive social and political movements happening right now in Vermont and beyond.
Place: UVM Davis Center
Time: 6-8 p.m.
Heady Vermont Editor Eli Harrington and Dr. Rob Williams, CDAE Professor and Founding Member of the Vermont Cannabis Collaborative, will host an interactive panel discussion featuring brief remarks, followed by an audience Q&A on the following subjects:
The Status and Future of Hemp & the Hemp Industry in Vermont – Presented by Mr. Joel Bedard (CALS 92) UVM Alumnus (CALS ’90; BS-Terrestrial Ecology) and founder of The Vermont Hemp Company (6:15-6:30pm)
Cannabis in Medical Education & the Scientific Community – Presented by Monique McHenry, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the Robert Larner College of Medicine, University of Vermont.
Co-Founder of the Phytoscience Institute and the Executive Director of Vermont Patients Alliance Inc. (6:30-6:45pm)
The Political Discourse in Vermont For and Against Cannabis Reform – Equal time will be presented to Mr. Matt Simon, representing the Vermont Coalition to Regulate Marijuana and Mrs. Margo Austin, LADC, representing Smart Approaches to Marijuana-Vermont (SAM-VT) (6:45 – 7:10pm)
At the conclusion of the panelist presentations, audience members will be invited to participate in an interactive question and answer session with the panelists (7:10-7:25pm). Following the group program, attendees will be invited to network with each other and panelist attendees (7:25-8:00pm)
